PBCers Family and Friends Digest Posting Rules

Welcome to the PBCers “PBCers Family & Friends Digest”.  By joining the PBCers Family & Friends Digest, you agree to follow our posting rules.

The PBCers Family & Friends Digest is a moderated group.  All e-mails sent to our group address (PBCersFamilyandFriendsdigest@groups.io) must be approved by one of our moderators.

All members are expected to follow these rules or are subject to removal of post and/or banning from the group.

Size of e-mails:  E-mails posted to the group must be less than 400 words. If your e-mail is more than 400 words, please split it into two e-mails.  E-mails over the word limit will be rejected.

Mailing format: You will receive the PBCers Family & Friends Digest in digest format.

Replies to the group: Make sure your reply applies to the topic or start a new topic discussion.  One topic per post makes it easier to search for other similar discussions.  Please make sure the subject line reflects the topic.

Be kind & gentle: We already have enough problems trying to help our family and friends cope with the diagnosis and daily living of PBC. We don’t need bickering in the digest adding additional stress. We are here to offer caring help and support to one another.

Private e-mails to other members: If you do not agree with a posting in the digest, please do NOT reply to their personal e-mail address unless they request private e-mails. If your reply can’t be posted to the group, then it most likely should NOT be sent at all. Sending an argumentative or tacky e-mail to a member’s private e-mail address is grounds for removal from our group.

Upper case text:  Please do NOT type your e-mails in all upper case text.  ALL CAPS is considered shouting in cyberspace language and is hard on the reader’s eyes.

Copyright and trademarked material CANNOT be posted in the digest, chatroom, message board, extension mailing lists or elsewhere.  If a member finds an interesting “PBC related” article, they can post the link, title and few sentences of the article. Members can use the link posted to read the complete article.  Please send in PBC related links only.

We do not discuss politics or religion.  We are a diverse group consisting of members around the world. Our organization is here to offer help and support for PBC, associated diseases, day-to-day living, treatments, research, insurance, fundraising and other PBC related topics.

We do not discuss race or sexual preferences.

No slamming of other members.

No advertising or group member mailing without the PBCers Executive Committee’s approval.  We ask members not to collect e-mail addresses from the PBCers Digest and use this information to send out spam mail.  Group mailings to our members without prior approval is considered spamming, and the person will be removed from the PBCers Family and Friends group immediately.  We all receive enough e-mail in our mailboxes, and don’t need our digest members adding to the problem.

PBCers Organization promotes “Facebook” fundraisers such as Birthday & Anniversary.  PBCers Organization does NOT promote other fundraisers such as “Go Fund Me” or individual fundraisers collecting their own funds. We can’t sponsor or promote these type fundraisers as we have no control over money collected or how much is actually donated. These type fundraisers must be done by the individual and then money donated to PBCers Organization from the individual listing the fundraiser.

No vulgarity or offensive language.

Moderators have the option “not to approve” an e-mail they consider in violation with any of the above posting rules. Moderators can “reject a new member subscribe” and “remove a member” they feel is disruptive to our group.

Please sign your e-mails.  You do not have to use your last name, but it is helpful to give your first name. Some members also include their state/country.. Example:  Jane, La,  (For safety reasons, please no cities or phone numbers.) Groups.io provides a place in your profile to add “your signature” to be automatically added to your posts if you wish.

The PBCers Organization offers help and support to all PBC patients, family members, friends and others wanting to learn more about PBC.  PBCers Family and Friends Digest is for FRIENDS AND FAMILY ONLY so we can freely and safely discuss topics that we may not want to share with people outside this group.

Our website at https://pbcers.org has a wealth of PBC information.

Thank you

PBCers Organization Executive Committee
