Marlene R Living with PBC

I was diagosed 21 yrs. ago and given 8 yrs. to live. At that time it

was considered a fatal liver disease no known cure. I went to the

library and found the best hepatolgist listed in my Area and have been

with him ever since. After about 10 years I was put on Actigall in a

study trial. Then 4 years ago methotrexate was added once a week. I also

have rheumatoid arthritis, so I have been seeing 2 doctors every 3 months for

over 21 yrs. I have blood work every 3 months, a liver biopsy every 2 years

and endoscopy. pft, ultra sound, chest x-ray, 24 hr. urine collection.  I

call this my major tuneup. I am doing wonderful and have no varices or itching.

I did write to the doctor who gave me 8 years to live and told him I was still here

and not to do predictions in the future.

Take care
