Research Donations

The PBCers Organization is an online support system, offering help, support and raising funds for PBC education and research. Our organization is a 501 (c)(3) charity operated by all volunteers, and we have no paid employees or board members. One-hundred percent (100{8a67dea16ade4df0bdc75a32af750148bf01dab229db39fe87e8dd3665ac86f1}) of donations received go into the PBC education or research fund stipulated by the donor. If no fund is stipulated, donation goes into the research fund.

Over the past twenty-one years, we have helped fund numerous research projects through researchers such as Doctors Bowlus, Gershwin, Levy, Lindor, Mason & Zein. Also funding to research doctors and medical facilities through the American Liver Foundation “PBC Fund the Cure.” The PBCers Organization considers all PBC research projects submitted to our organization requesting funds or patient participants by individual researchers and medical facilities. Approval is granted through the board and or executive committee. Projects are announced in the PBC Daily Digest, PBCers Facebook Pages and Twitter @pbcers.

Currently the PBCers Organization is helping fund research through Eric Gershwin, M.D., M.A.C.P., M.A.C.R., University of CA Davis. Our entire University of CA Davis donations go directly to Dr. Gershwin funding PBC research.  A few years ago, Dr. Gershwin and his team discovered the first mouse used in PBC research, and additional mice have been shared with other researchers worldwide. These mice have helped put together some of the many pieces in a large PBC puzzle.
