Does Vitamin D Supplementation Enhance
Immune Function in Primary Biliary Cirrhosis ?
We are studying the effect of vitamin D on the body’s immune system, which is usually abnormal in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). To be eligible, you must have PBC.
The research is being conducted at the Mount Sinai Medical Center by the Division of Liver Diseases. The principal investigator is Dr. Joseph Odin of the Division of Liver Diseases. Drs. Nancy Bach and Carmen Stanca are co-investigators. The study has been approved by the Mount Sinai Institutional Review Board (GCO# 05-1131), which oversees research involving human subjects, through 06/30/2007. Funds for conducting this research are provided by The American Liver Foundation.
